  • Passengers arrive at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and immediately begin their journey back to the 1860s at Oakland Cemetery, where close to 7,000 Confederate soldiers and Margaret Mitchell are buried. We will also immerse ourselves in Atlanta’s Civil War history at the Atlanta History Center. In the evening there is an introduction to the tour and a chance to get acquainted over a welcome drink.

  • We travel to Chattanooga National Military Park and explore Lookout Mountain Battlefield. Next, we enjoy a guided tour of Chickamauga Battlefield and end our day exploring Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.

  • This day is dedicated to honoring prisoners of war. We will spend the afternoon exploring what life was like in Andersonville Prison for Union troops held captive at this site. We will also honor all soldiers who endured the horrors of being a POW in all American conflicts at the National POW Museum.

  • We head to Columbus and the National Civil War Naval Museum to understand how the Navy supported the war effort on both sides of the conflict, before traveling on to Savannah.

  • We spend the day exploring Savannah. We start at Fort McAllister, the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy to understand how it withstood seven attacks only to fall before Sherman. In the afternoon we will relax with a trolley tour of beautiful Savannah to gain an appreciation for its role during the Civil War.

  • We will spend the day at Fort Jackson and Fort Pulaski exploring examples of military technology and coastal defenses around Savannah. In the evening we take in the city from the water on a riverboat dinner cruise.

  • We travel to Charleston, where we visit the H.L. Hunley, the first submarine to sink an enemy battleship. We then get to know this charming town on a Civil War walking tour.

  • We visit Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter National Monument to see where the first shots and last resistance of the War Between the States took place.

  • After saying goodbye, our guests are brought to Charleston’s airport for their flights home.
