The 76th anniversary of D-Day
Enjoy a combination of the Battle of Britain and Beyond Band of Brothers 76 Tours on this 21-day adventure as we celebrate the victory of the Battle of Britain and the careful planning and implementation of D-Day, realize the tenacity of those who endured the bitter hardships at the Battle of the Bulge, and get a glimpse of the Third Reich system at the end of our journey in Munich. We visit sites such as Bletchley Park with the Enigma machine and Churchill’s Cabinet War Rooms as well as the Imperial War Museums in London and Duxford, then move to the D-Day landing beaches in Normandy, where we attend a special commemoration ceremony. Adding further flavor to our activities is a vast array of World War II vehicles on display and in motion, parachute jumps, air shows, and much more, which we aim to attend as their timing and our itinerary allows. D-Day is just the start of this tour, as we also explore Falaise and the magnificent abbey of Mont Saint-Michel and the castle of William the Conqueror. We then move on to the foxholes of Bois Jacques in the Ardennes Forest, and finish off in Bavaria with Dachau and the Eagle’s Nest.
Please note that the exact schedule of local D-Day anniversary celebrations has not been announced yet. The order of events on our anniversary tour is liable to change to accommodate the celebrations.

The afternoon features visits to Utah Beach and Sainte-Mère-Église, where a paratrooper was famously trapped on the church tower.
We begin the day with a visit to Omaha Beach and the Normandy American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer. The day continues with a trip to Pointe du Hoc, where Rudder's Rangers ascended the steep cliffs to take out the long-range artillery threatening the landing beaches.

After saying goodbye our guests are brought to Munich's airport for their return flights.

I would recommend this Tour for the person who wants an intense, though not terribly rushed, exposure to the highlights of the Invasion. It was, for me, a perfect complement to the hundreds of books and many films I have watched about D-Day.

Navigating Honolulu during the crowded annual Pearl Harbor remembrance event would have been difficult since we didn’t know the lay of the land and the rules of engagement dealing with logistics such as timing, security, etc. Robert was on top of that.
